Bedo was contracted by the FECU for manufacturing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for the control of electrical power labs.
SCADA is an acronym for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.SCADA systems are used to monitor and control a plant or equipment in various industries such as telecommunications, water and waste control, energy, oil and gas refining and transportation.
DCS is a computerized control system used to automate processes in various industries. Generally, the concept of automatic control includes accomplishing two major operations; the transmission of signals (information flow) back and forth and the calculation of control actions (decision making). Carrying out these operations in real plant requires a set of hardware and instrumentation that serve as the platform for these tasks. Distributed control system (DCS) is the most modern control platform.
Bedo system was designed so students can understand the theory behind all these systems while getting a hands-on practical training on applying these theories to a real setting. Once students are armed with the understanding of the basic theory and get enough practice on the system with many scenarios and faults, they will be able to apply that knowledge to a more complicated system in a real factory setting.
PLCs are computer-based solid-state devices that control industrial equipment and processes.
