  • Understand the function of the automotive starting system.
  • Knowing the main parts of the starting system.
  • Understanding the connection method of each component to the other and its role in the operation.
  • Investigation of the starter operation.
  • Operation of the battery charger switch.
  • Automotive starting system trainer (AT - 083)
  • Hard copy user manual

Automotive starting system model is designed to provide a complete simulation of a vehicle starter motor that used to rotate (crank) an internal-combustion engine so as to initiate the engine’s operation under its own power. The starter motor is a major component of the vehicle’s starting system. Trainees are able to observe the construction of the automotive starting system and its working mechanism.

  • The educational unit is designed with a front panel accommodates all the equipment necessary for operation.
  • On the top of the trainer, there is a starter motor surrounded by a transparent protective cover that allows the trainee to observe the experiments safely.
  • A battery is provided and located at the bottom of the trainer.
  • The trainer comprises the most important equipment of an automotive starting system: a starter motor, battery, and ignition switch.
  • The operation panel has a wide variety of components including: battery charger switch, ignition switch, battery charger indication lamp, and digital display.
  • It also contains an ON /OFF main power switch and an emergency switch to disconnect the trainer in case of anything unexpected happens.
  • A schematic diagram of the starter motor is designed on the trainer panel to provide a presentation of the structural drawings of the starter’s components.
  • The starter contains battery terminals, brushes, field coil, armature, overrunning clutch, pinion gear, fork (lever), plunger, solenoid, and cover.
  • The electric circuit diagram of the automotive starting system is also provided. This can help trainees learn and analyze the operating principle of the system.
  • The ignition switch has a return spring, so that as soon as releasing the key it springs back and turns the starter switch off.
  • The starter switch works by the ignition key.
  • The starting current of the starting motor is measured and displayed on the digital display.
  • The trainer is designed with terminals for the battery for testing purposes.
  • The trainer allows connecting an external multi-meter.
  • All symbols, drawings, etc. are printed to the trainer using ultraviolet technology on aluminum sheets, full-colored and suitable for outdoor purposes (weather resistance).
