The critical speed investigation training system (DN-028) is a benchtop educational unit that allows a clear representation of machine dynamics. The apparatus can perform basic experiments as bending oscillation and resonance on a rotating shaft at various speeds. Within this training system, trainees will get introduced the vibration phenomena and how various setups and factors can affect the critical speed.

  • The training system elaborates several aspects regarding machine dynamics field such as critical speed and its relation to masses, bending vibration, and resonance.
  • The training unit comprises an experimental section as well as control panel section.
  • The experimental section consists of shaft that is driven by a spindle which can rotate to up to 6000 rpm.
  • Three different shafts are available which can be switched in order to investigate the influence of shaft diameter on critical speed.
  • Masses are provided with the training system which can be mounted to the shaft so that trainees can investigate its effect and relationship to critical speed.
  • The experimental section is supplied with a safety cover in order to provide a safe work place to users when the shaft is rotated.
  • The safety cover is clear to facilitate the observation of formed modes during the experiments.
  • The control panel is supplied with motor speed display as well as control knob in order to alter motor speed.
  • The training control panel is supplied with main ON/OFF, circuit breaker and an emergency button in case of any inconvenience.
  • The unit is a bench-top system that is easy to comprehend and test by users.
