Front automatic transmission educational simulator (DPT-009) features a real sectioned front-wheel drive automatic transmission with the differential unit and connections. The trainer helps the trainee to recognize the front automatic transmission components, mechanical interactions and hydraulic connections between these components and understand how car speed can be changed automatically. The educational simulator consists of two main units; automatic transmission unit (system setup) and operation & control unit. The educational unit is provided with a software to control transmission system and display its various parameters.
- The trainer illustrates the working principle of front automatic power transmission by using an electric motor as a power source instead of the internal combustion engine.
- The trainer mainly consists of automatic transmission unit in addition to operation & control unit.
- Automatic transmission unit consists of a sectioned front automatic transmission connected to the electric motor through a coupling to operate the transmission.
- The coupling is surrounded by a shield for purpose of protection against rotating parts.
- Automatic transmission unit also includes;
- Transmission control unit (TCM).
- Velocity sensors.
- Solenoid valves.
- Oil level indicator.
- Overdrive button.
- Cooling fan.
- Transmission output shaft.
- Shift stick of the transmission to allow trainees to select the position P, R, N, D, 2 and 1.
- Automatic transmission unit is also supplied with pressure gauges connected internally to clutches and brakes using hydraulic hoses inside the transmission body to measure hydraulic oil pressures on disks of both clutches and brakes.
- Operation & control unit includes:
- Software touchscreen.
- Automatic / Manual (Steptronic) mode selector.
- Speed increasing and decreasing buttons.
- Valve control mode operation switch.
- Solenoid valves activating switches.
- Trainer operation switch.
- Circuit breaker.
- Emergency switch.
- Oil error switch.
- Electric motor operation switch.
- Electric motor speed (rpm) control knob.
- Table of transmission parts operation indication LEDs.
- Transmission internal construction diagram.
- The trainer allows the front automatic transmission system to be operated by four
- Automatic mode allows trainees to use transmission shift stick to change transmission speeds. This mode also allows to use the motor speed control knob to change motor RPM.
- Manual (Steptronic) mode allows to use speed increasing and decreasing buttons.
- Overdrive mode allows to get the maximum torque with maximum allowable speed.
- Valve control mode is specially designed for the trainer, doesn't exist in a real car, to stop the transmission control unit (TCM) to allow trainees to perform the TCM role by opening and closing the solenoid valves by themselves depending on the LEDs table to control the oil direction in order to compress clutches and brakes necessary for the desired transmission mode.
- Table of transmission parts operation indication LEDs displays operation of clutches, brakes, solenoid valves that achieve all modes of front transmission, so when the automatic transmission achieves a specific mode, all LEDs of clutches, brakes and solenoid valves involved in this mode are lightened.
- The educational unit is provided with a software to enable trainees to select between modes.
- The software also displays the car dashboard to monitor the transmission output shaft speed in RPM, acceleration level percentage and vehicle speed in Km/ hr.
- The two units of the trainer are provided with caster wheels underneath to ease moving it inside the workshop, in addition to the wheels braking mechanism that prevent it from sliding during operation.
