Automotive ignition test bench (EIG104) is designed to provide a complete simulation of a vehicle ignition system. It provides understanding the method of starting and charging of an engine. Beginning with the basic parts of the engine system and move on to the starting & charging method. trainees are able to test the performance of equipment like starter and alternator and know their definition, functions, and parts, as well as understand how batteries work and test its performance.
- The trainer is a laboratory equipment used to test electrical appliances that are found in real ignition system like generator, starter, distributor, ignition coil, electric wiper and electric horn, ignition coil, etc.
- A wide variety of equipment that are used in real automobile system are included such as, alternator, electric motor (engine simulator), ignition switch, key switch, and starter motor.
- Along with, 3 Phase indication Lamps, motor speed knob, outlet plugs, DC ammeter digital display, and DC voltmeter digital display.
- This trainer is designed to represent the integration of main three distinct components: engine, starter motor, and alternator which are required to fully perform a starting & charging system in a vehicle.
- The starter motor is a device used to rotate (crank) the engine so as to initiate the engine's operation under its own power. As soon as the engine begins to run, it got disconnected.
- The starter is usually operated by the ignition key.
- The ignition key has a return spring, so that as soon as trainee release the key it springs back and turns the starter switch off which is similar to real life.
- The electric motor simulates the operation of real engine in a car.
- The motor speed knob provides variable frequency speed regulation.
- The alternator generates energy to feed the electrical system and charge the battery. In other words, it works together with the battery to supply power for the electrical components of the vehicle.
- The digital displays are mounted to be electrically connected with the starter motor, alternator, and battery, thus displaying both current and voltage that each equipment pulled during operation.
- The electrical wiring enables trainees to enhance their hands-on skills and implement such wiring connections with precision and accuracy.
- There are measuring pins for each equipment, so that students can measure the voltage and current and display their values on the digital displays.
- Car battery tester and spark plug tester is equipped with the test bench.
- The car battery tester is provided to allow testing the battery and analyze many of its parameters like CCA that refers to cold cranking amps and RC that refers to the reserve capacity, etc.
- The spark plug tester allows testing the spark plug of an engine as well as making comparison testing of spark plugs.
- The spark plug tester is a five-hole spark plug ignition analyzer tool that contains a standard hole and four holes to be tested to allow making comparison testing of spark plugs.
- The system is equipped with emergency switch, 4-pole Circuit breaker, and fuse which guarantee the required protection to produce a safety working environment.
- The circuit breaker is used to protect the electrical system from damage caused by overcurrent/overload or short circuit.
- Electric fuse is a safety device used to limit the current in an electric circuit which melts and breaks the circuit whenever there is an excess flow of current through the circuit. Its purpose is to safeguard the circuit and the appliance connected to the circuit from being damaged if the current exceeds the limit of the fuse due to voltage fluctuations or short circuits.
- Four 220VAC supply outlets are provided to give more accessible power for all the devices and for using more extensions.
- The trainer is an ideal tool for teaching and training purposes of automotive technology.
