Intake and exhaust electronic controlled educational unit (EIG105) features a real automotive exhaust system with its complete range of components wired and connected and ready for operation. The system is designed to demonstrate the operation & characteristics of intake and exhaust system found in real vehicles. The unit is provided with a touch screen PC equipped with BEDO troubleshooting software used for simulating most common faults of intake and exhaust system , that helps enhancing maintenence and troubleshooting skills of the same system.

  • This unit features an electronic controlled simulation of intake & exhaust system at the upper part of the system front panel.
  • The system including two schematic diagrams, one of them is the electric circuit of intake and exhaust while the other is the ignition switch electric circuit.
  • This diagrams are supplied with LEDs to show the sequence of the intake and exhaust processes.
  • The middle part of the front panel includes a real intake & exhaust system divided into four sections:
    • Mechanical simulation components
    • Inputs
    • Outputs
    • Feedback components, in addition to the indicators panel.
  • The lower part of the unit includes the fault switches, the operation panel, and the touch screen PC.
  • Mechanical simulation components are:
    • Exhaust manifold
    • Intake manifold
    • Throttle body
    • Mass airflow sensor
    • Air filter
    • Measuring terminals.
  •  Mass airflow sensor has three modes for different three types of intake & exhaust systems for further experiments.
  • Inputs components are:
    • Water temperature sensor WTS,
    • Oxygen sensor,
    • Environmental temperature control switch
    • Throttle body 1

  • Throttle body as the airflow sensor has three modes for different three types of intake & exhaust systems for further experiments.
  • Output components are:
    • Purge control solenoid valve (PCSV
    • Canister, throttle body
    • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) Solenoid.
  • Feedback components are crank gear and crank position sensor.
  • The indicators panel includes:
    • Digital displays of the intake & exhaust system Inputs (mass airflow sensor)(three modes) as voltages and mass flow rates
    • Air temperature sensor (as voltage and temperature),
    • Water temperature sensor (as voltage and temperature)
    • Oxygen sensor (as voltage)
    • Outputs PCSV (as opening percentage, in addition of operation indication LEDs)
    • EGR (as opening percentage, in addition of operation indication LEDs)
    • Feedback (throttle position sensor (as voltage and degree of opening)
    • RPM digital display.
  • Operation panel of the trainer contains:
    • ignition switch
    • emergency switch
    • operation ON / OFF switch
    • Switch to select the mode of the throttle
    • Switch to select the mode of the mass airflow sensor.
  • The unit is also provided with seven fault switches to simulate most common faults of the intake & exhaust system.
  • System is equipped with measuring test points 4 mm to perform connection, measurement and testing processes.
  • Each component has its labeled name with its terminals.
  • The labeled names of the components and the schematic diagrams are printed on the front panel using the ultraviolet technology.
