The Bifilar /Trifilar Unit (MV- 002) has been designed to investigate pendulum swings with bifilar or trifilar suspension. The unit is also used to determine the mass moment of inertia and the effect of thread length on oscillation period.
- The unit is composed of a frame with a hanger, a cylinder disks which can be used as pendulum bodies.
- The pendulum disks are hanged to the pendulum hanger using cords of three different lengths.
- The pendulum disks are hanged from three positions.
- The cords are fastened using tightening knobs.
- The moments of inertia of the pendulum body can be calculated from the measured oscillation period.
- Varying the oscillation period could be done through changing the length of the thread.
- The unit is equipped with stopwatch to measure the oscillation period.
- The unit was intended to investigate the vibration behavior of various pendulum bodies in bifilar and trifilar suspension.
- The unit could be used as well to investigate a mathematical pendulum (bifilar) and a physical pendulum (trifilar).
- The unit could be used to determine the mass moment of inertia.
