Solar thermal training system demonstrates the operation of a solar thermal system used for the heating of water in an illustrative manner. The trainer featuring a forced circulation system designed to obtain hot water used in sanitation, air conditioning and other similar domestic and industrial applications. The solar thermal system includes all required components to perform its operation, allow experimentation and displaying system’s parameters. The trainer can be provided optionally with a software for data acquisition.
- The trainer is a solar hot-water heating system that allows trainees to study the fundamentals of thermal energy, and how it can be collected, stored, and supplied.
- The trainer is supplied with two centrifugal water pump, solar collectors, electronic pump controller, temperature sensor automatic air vent, plate heat exchanger, shut-off valve, pressure relief valve, multimeter, flowmeter, pressure gauge, power supply and hose set.
- The solar collector is used to convert light into heat and transfers heat to a fluid.
- The air vent is an automatically-operated valve that allows trapped air to bleed from a liquid-based system. It helps to ensure that other system components operate efficiently and do not overheat.
- The plate heat exchanger is used to transfer heat through a fluid containment wall.
- The shut off valve is used to control fluid flow and helps to ensure that a system component is safely isolated from other parts of the system.
- The pressure relief valve is used to avoid over fluid pressure.
- The electronic pump controller is a differential one with ability to control the temperature sensed by several RTD sensors.
- Also, a digital display and pushbutton switches are supplied to control the system variables.
- The trainer is supplied with a thermostat controller to use the temperature threshold to control the centrifugal pump.
- The trainer is also supplied with a non-return valve to ensure that the flow of the system is at the same direction, so it is assembled between two the drain valves of the system.
- The educational unit is provided with two expansion tanks containing air to permit the safe thermal expansion and contraction of water.
- The fill bowl module supplied with trainer allows the trapped air bubbles to be released from the liquid cycle in order to replace water with the released air.
- The training system is provided with a floor radiator module equipped with a temperature sensor and transparent side to visualize the underside construction.
- The training system is provided with a fan radiator module equipped with a dual blower and thermometer to display the output temperature.
