Solar energy concentrator trainer is an educational unit designed for illustration of solar energy conversion into heat energy by absorbing and concentration of sunlight using absorber tubes. The trainer is convenient for performing heat transfer experiments. The solar thermal system includes all required components to perform its operation, allow experimentation and displaying system’s parameters. The trainer is provided with a software for data acquisition.

  • The educational Includes dual axis sun tracking which helps in capturing the maximum sun- rays by tracking the movement of the sun in four different directions.
  • Two types of absorber tubes are included in the trainer which are important for absorbing and collecting sunlight. The absorber tubes can be changed easily in order to study its effect on the efficiency of the process.
  • The trainer contains parabolic reflectors which aid in capturing sun’s direct solar radiation over a large surface area.
  • The radiation can be measured using radiation meter.

  • A fluid in the form of (water) is used in the system in order to transfer heat in closed- loop solar heating system which helps in studying the fluid effect on the overall efficiency.
  • Water tank is included with a pump installed.
  • A heat exchanger is installed in the system which allows transferring solar energy absorbed to the working fluid.
  • All of the pipes included in the system are insulated using insulation materials
  • Temperature meters and sensors are included to measure inlet, outlet and plate temperature
