The oil burner (TD-017) is a mechanical device used to prepare the oil for burning in heating appliances such as boilers, furnaces, and water heaters. The trainer is designed to introduce trainees to the oil burner device to investigate its layout and operating behavior. The trainer is completely safe for trainees to study the parameters of the flame produced by the oil burner trainer.

  • The trainer demonstrates a water cycle that heated using the oil burner as an application of the oil burner.
  • The hot water is then cooled by cold water using a plate heat exchanger to avoid boiling water and destroying the hot water cycle components.
  • The trainer consists of two units, the oil burner unit and the control unit.
  • The oil burner unit consists of an oil burner device, a boiler, a boiler chimney and an exhaust gases blower, hot water cycle and cooling water cycle.
  • The oil burner is supplied with a fuel to produce a flame to generate heat.
  • The boiler consists of a metal flume supplied with the flame hose of the oil burner, a water helical coil to heat water using the flame of the oil burner, a chimney and an exhaust gases blower.
  • The water helical coil is positioned at a distance from the flame.
  • When the oil burner device is operated, the flame heats the water in the helical coil, then the exhaust fumes of the flame is collected at the chimney at the end of the boiler to be exhausted out of the oil burner unit by the exhaust gases blower at the top of the chimney.
  • The exhaust gases blower also helps to avoid accumulation of fumes and cool down the oil burner fast after shutting down.
  • The boiler is supplied with three thermocouples distributed along the length of the flame produced by the oil burner device to measure the temperatures along the flame.
  • The hot water cycle consists of Air control vent, safety group, Helical coil water tubes, Water pump, pressure gauges after and before the pump, water supply valve, cycle valve, drain valve, Water pressure vessel (drum), Plate heat exchanger and flow switch.
  • Air control vent to get out air bubbles at the filling nozzle and tubes.
  • Safety group to set the maximum safe pressure.
  • Water pump to drive water to the helical coil.
  • Water pressure vessel (drum) to separate water from steam in order to provide the system with pure water without any steam or bubbles and keep the pipe line at constant cycle pressure.
  • Plate heat exchanger to cool the hot water comes from the boiler by cold water from external water source.
  • Flow switch to indicate operation of the water cooling.
  • The water is driven through the hot water cycle by the pump to the helical coil in the boiler to be heated by the flame, then out of the boiler to be cooled by the plate heat exchanger, then back again to the pump.
  • The oil burner unit is equipped with a tube-in-tube heat exchanger to use hot water from the boiler to heat the fuel of the oil burner device to get high combustion quality.
  • The oil burner is also equipped with many temperature sensors to measure the flame temperatures, temperature of hot water getting out of the plate heat exchanger, temperature of cold water entering the plate heat exchanger, temperature of hot water getting out from the boiler to be cooled, temperature of water entering to the boiler after being cooled and the exhaust gases temperatures.
  • The trainer is featured with viewing windows fitted to the boiler that make it possible to observe the flame.
  • The control panel consists of flame temperature digital display, exhaust gas temperature digital display, water temperature digital display, flame temperature select switch to select each one of Tƒ1, Tƒ2 and Tƒ3 is displayed the flame temperature digital display, exhaust gas temperature select switch to select each one of Tg2 and Tg3 is displayed at the exhaust gas temperature digital display, water temperature select switch to select each one of Tw in, Tc in and Tc out is displayed at the water temperature digital display, hot exhaust gas temperature (Tg1) digital display, water outlet temperature (Tw out) digital display, fuel pressure digital display, fuel preheating valve switch, operation switch of the water pump, operation switch of the oil burner, blower ON/OFF switch, oil temperature display, emergency switch, operation switch of the educational of unit, burner lockout LED and alarm LED.
  • In order to connect the oil burner unit to the control panel, special two cables are provided.
  • The control panel is supplied with schematic diagram of the oil burner operation process.
