The hydraulic power steering trainer (BST103) is based on a real common steering system of modern contemporary passenger cars, light trucks and SUVs. The trainer is based on a fully functional real vehicle hydraulic power steering with all its necessary components. It would help the trainee understand and notice the conversion of its rotational motion that may come from a steering wheel into linear motion to direct the wheels with the help of an oil pump.
- The trainer features hydraulic power steering system mounted inside a robust frame.
- The unit includes all components required for the (rack and pinion) type hydraulic power steering system operation all connected together to form a complete system , these components include:
- Rack and pinion gear box
- Hydraulic pump
- Oil reservoir,
- Rotary valve
- Tie rods of the wheels and etc.
- The unit simulates the real hydraulic power steering system and includes a steering wheel attached to the steering system to allow introducing the rotational motion produced by the car driver.
- The hydraulic pump is used to pressurize the fluid (oil) and normally driven by the engine, which provides hydraulic pressure to the steering system.
- The training system is provided with an electric motor used to drive the hydraulic pump instead of the engine to simulate the engine function.
- The motor speed can be controlled using a knob fixed on the front control panel to simulate raising the engine speed that will lead to raising the whole system fluid pressure.
- Additionally , the front control panel includes an ON/OFF switch, emergency switch and a schematic diagram showing the steering system design and components.
- The trainee can observe clearly the full operation of the vehicle steering and how by simple mechanism of a rack and pinion connected to a hydraulic circuit can converts the rotational motion of the steering wheel into linear motion needed to turn the wheels easily.
