Geothermal energy with a two-well trainer is an advanced educational setup designed to provide hands-on training and practical knowledge about geothermal energy extraction using a two-well system. The system is designed to simulate real-world geothermal energy extraction processes, allowing trainees to gain practical experience in a controlled environment.

  • Geothermal energy with a two-well demonstrates geothermal energy extraction using a two-well system. • The trainer consists mainly of a closed water circuit with a pump and storage tank.
  • The training system equipped with an absorption and production well is the central component through which water flows.
  • The two side-mounted chambers have been designed to allow water (groundwater) to enter and exit.
  • Thermal energy is transferred from the groundwater to the working media and the groundwater is supplied from the production well to a heat exchanger.
  • In the training unit, the water enters an absorption well then, the water is heated in the storage tank before being returned to the experimental area via the drain chamber.
  • A regulated heater regulates the temperature of the groundwater in the storage tank.
  • Through the use of height-adjustable discharges, the groundwater flow through the sand bed is modified.
  • The transmitted heat output can be calculated using the flow rate and measured temperatures.
  • The groundwater levels in each well are shown visually via a multi-tube manometer.
  • A heat pump attached to the two-well system is simulated using the measured data.
  • The recorded data can be transferred to a PC for analysis using the BEDO software that comes with the trainer and shown on the trainer.
