2 DOF Ball Balancer Trainer is a benchtop educational unit that introduces trainees to the fundamental and intermediate principles of controls. And to teach automatic control with vision-based motion platforms. The trainer also introduces numerous control methods. The trainee can use it to illustrate actual control difficulties, such as how to control pan-tilt cameras. The two Rotary Servo Base Units receive the 2 DOF Ball Balancer Trainer.

  • The ball and beam trainer introduces trainees to the fundamental and intermediate principles of controls.
  • The trainer demonstrated and investigated real-world control issues found in vision-based motion platforms, such as pan-tilt cameras.
  • The trainer consists of a plate connected through 2 DOF gimbals to two rotary servo base units.
  • The plate can swivel about in any direction.
  • The unit includes:
    • Digital camera.
    • Ball and Plate
    • Calibration base
  • The trainer is based on two Rotary Servo Base Units for
    • Y-Axis
    • X-Axis
  • By regulating the position of the servo load gears, the angle of the plate can be changed to balance a ball traveling freely on the plate to the desired position.
  • An above digital camera captures two-dimensional images of the plate and tracks the coordinates of the ball in real-time.
  • Students can apply the knowledge they gained from the one-dimensional Ball and Beam experiment to the X-Y planar case by using this unit.
  • The training unit is fully compatible with MATLABĀ®/SimulinkĀ®.
  • The digital camera installed overhead collects two-dimensional photos of the plate and track coordinates of the ball in real-time.
  • Using the controller provided with the experiment, students may make the ball trace various trajectories (a circle, for example), as well as steady the ball when it is tossed upon the plate.
